Senator Aishatu Dahiru-Ahmed, commonly known as ‘Binani,’ has expressed sympathised with the families affected by the recent flooding in Yola, Adamawa State.

The disaster, which took place on Sunday, resulted in the loss of lives and significant damage to homes, livestock, and farmland.

In a statement made in Yola, Binani shared her heartbreak over the tragedy and committed to finding ways to prevent similar floods in the future.

“My heart goes out to everyone impacted by the floods in Yola. Losing loved ones, homes, and being forced to leave your community is incredibly painful. I stand with our community during this tough time,” she said.

Binani emphasized the importance of working together with local communities to identify areas at risk and to develop solutions to protect them.

She also called on government agencies and humanitarian organizations to quickly assist those who have been displaced and help them return to their homes as soon as possible.

She cautioned everyone about the health risks following such floods, including the danger posed by snakes and other reptiles that may come into areas where people live.

She urged residents to stay alert and follow the advice of local authorities to stay safe.

“I encourage everyone to take care and cooperate with officials as they work to manage this situation and prevent any more loss of life or property,” Binani said.

“We will work hard to ensure the safety of our people and help Yola recover from this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected.”
