The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has announced the assumption of duty of a new commissioner of police for the nation’s capital.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the command said Ahmed Sanusi has taken over as the 35th commissioner of police.
He succeeds Miller Dantawaye, who has been elevated to the rank of an assistant inspector-general of police and redeployed to another assignment by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
Sanusi, a seasoned officer with decades of service, was born on May 20, 1972, in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.
He enlisted into the police as a aadet assistant superintendent of police in May 2000 and, after completing his training in 2001, was posted to the Niger State Command where he began his policing career.

Until his latest appointment, Sanusi served as Commander of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), a critical unit of the Force.
The new commissioner has pledged to strengthen existing security architecture in the FCT and improve collaboration between the police and residents.
The command called on residents of the FCT to continue to support the police in efforts to maintain peace, law and order.
