Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has officially signed a new two-year contract with Liverpool.
Salah’s previous contract was set to expire this summer, and there were uncertainties about his future with the team due to comments he made during the season and rumours connecting him to a move to Saudi Arabia.
Salah will now have the opportunity to further his impressive tally of 243 goals and 109 assists in 393 appearances for Liverpool.
“I’m really excited— we have a fantastic team now,” Salah expressed. “We had a great team before, too, but I signed because I believe we have a shot at winning more trophies and enjoying my football.
“Having been here for eight years, I hope to make it 10. I’m loving my life here and my time playing. I’ve experienced the best years of my career here.”
This season, Salah has netted 32 goals across all competitions, with 27 of those coming in the Premier League as Liverpool aims for their 20th top-flight title.
The Reds currently hold an 11-point lead over Arsenal, who are in second place, with seven matches left to play.
Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017, Salah has secured several trophies, including the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
He is one of three key players at Liverpool whose contracts are set to expire this summer, alongside right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and center-back Virgil van Dijk.
Van Dijk mentioned that discussions for a new contract are progressing, whereas Alexander-Arnold has been frequently linked to a transfer to Real Madrid.
Salah’s last contract reportedly earned him over £350,000 per week, making him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

It is thought that the discussions regarding his new contract did not include a pay reduction.
Amidst uncertainty regarding his future, Salah has had one of his best league scoring seasons at Liverpool for 2024-25, and with seven games remaining, he has the chance to match the 32 goals he scored in his debut season.
In September, during an interview with Sky Sports, he mentioned that it was “his last season” at Anfield due to the lack of communication from the club about a new contract.
These remarks followed a game where he scored in a 3-0 victory against Manchester United, which he approached as if it might be his final match at Old Trafford.
Two months later, after a victory over Southampton, Salah expressed his “disappointment” at not being presented with a new deal by Liverpool, suggesting he felt he was “probably more out than in.”
