Real Sociedad’s President Jokin Aperribay has shared his delight over Nigerian striker Sadiq Umar’s resurgence since moving to Valencia in January.
Umar departed Real Sociedad for Valencia during the January transfer window due to limited playing opportunities.
That choice has turned out to be one of the most advantageous moves of his career.
The 28-year-old forward has netted six goals in 15 matches for Los Ches and is now presenting a challenge to the regular starter Hugo Duro.
Meanwhile, Valencia manager Carlos Corberan has expressed admiration for the former Almeria player.
He had positive remarks about Umar following his crucial goal for the team last month.
“I’m fortunate to have three excellent strikers because Sadiq is proving himself. Hugo has demonstrated his quality as well, but he’s currently unavailable.
“The same applies to Rafa Mir. I have complete faith in the three forwards we possess,” Corberan commented.
“I think that Sadiq today exemplifies what the game was like. A game with mistakes at times. And with the mentality to recover from those situations that he had.
“A game of not losing faith, of assistance, until achieving the objective.”
Valencia holds a buy option for Sadiq.

“I’m pleased with the performance he’s delivering. We need to adhere to the timelines,” according to Aperribay.
“Umar’s agreement included a buy option, but it wasn’t compulsory. This allows them the flexibility to decide if they want to permanently engage his services.”
Should Los Ches opt to retain Sadiq long-term, they will need to pay an additional €10 million to Real Sociedad by the summer. This appears to be a worthwhile investment.
With Sadiq in their lineup, Valencia possesses three forward players, including Rafa Mir and Duro.
If they choose to finalize Sadiq’s transfer, either Duro or Mir would likely be released, which isn’t a negative scenario for them.
Sadiq appears to have already settled into life in Valencia, and he will aim to continue finding the back of the net as the season concludes to make his case for a permanent deal.
