Earlier, Sporting notified the Portuguese Securities Market Commission about United’s pursuit of Amorim, outlining the specifics of his release clause. “Manchester United FC expressed interest in hiring coach Ruben Amorim… specifically the respective termination clause for €10 million,” the Lisbon-based club’s statement read.
At 39, Amorim has rapidly risen as one of Europe’s most promising managers. He led Sporting to their first Primeira Liga title in nearly two decades in 2021 and secured another last season. His tactical acumen and leadership have made him an ideal candidate for a club in need of transformation, like Manchester United.
