Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has restated the commitment of the corps to achieving the goals of the United Nations campaign against road traffic crashes.
The corps marshal stated this while declaring open a one -day seminar held at the FRSC national headquarters in Abuja, aimed at reviewing the UN Marrakech Declaration on road safety.
Mohammed said Nigeria had always been at the vanguard of the global campaign against road traffic crashes, and as the lead agency on road traffic management and safety administration in the country, the corps has always been active in road safety campaigns at the various levels.
He recalled that the FRSC was well represented at the first global road safety conference held in Moscow, Russia in 2009, which led to the first United Nations declaration of 2011-2020 as the decade of action for road safety.

The corps marshal stressed that not only is Nigeria having a functional road safety lead agency, but was one of the first countries to activate the global campaign as declared by the United Nations.
“Let me therefore restate that the FRSC will remain committed to the success of the goals of the campaign as espoused in the 2021-2030 declaration which the United Nations declared,” he stated.
Mohammed further expressed appreciation to road safety stakeholders and non-governmental organisations for their support for the campaign on road safety.
Experts attending the seminar engaged in reviewing the Marrakech Declaration with recommendations on the way forward.
Also, the two awards won by Nigeria for its commitment to issues of road safety were publicly presented at the seminar.
