AS Roma have completed the signing of Dutch forward Donyell Malen from Aston Villa, bringing the attacker to Italy just one year after his move to the Premier League club.
Although Aston Villa did not disclose the transfer fee, Roma confirmed that the agreement is a loan deal with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
Malen, 26, joined Aston Villa from Borussia Dortmund in January 2025 and went on to score 10 goals in 46 appearances for the English side. During the current season, he has found the net seven times under manager Unai Emery but struggled to secure a regular starting role, making only five league starts from 21 appearances.

A graduate of the Ajax and Arsenal youth academies, Malen launched his senior career at PSV Eindhoven before earning a move to Borussia Dortmund in 2021. Across his club career, he has recorded 104 goals in 294 appearances, underlining his reputation as a proven attacker.
The Netherlands international has also scored 13 goals in 49 matches for the national team. At Roma, Malen will wear the number 14 shirt as the Serie A side, currently fifth in the league standings, look to strengthen their attacking options in the push for a top-four finish.
