Real Madrid and Brazil forward Rodrygo has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2025–26 season after suffering a serious knee injury.
The Spanish club confirmed that the 25-year-old sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament during a training session at their Valdebebas complex in Madrid.
Subsequent medical examinations revealed a complete rupture, effectively ending his campaign.
Rodrygo is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days, followed by a lengthy rehabilitation process estimated to last between six and nine months.
The injury will not only sideline him for the rest of Real Madrid’s domestic and European fixtures but also rule him out of representing Brazil at the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

For Real Madrid, the loss compounds an already demanding season as the club continues its push for titles in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
Rodrygo has been a key figure in the squad, contributing pace, technical ability and crucial goals in high-stakes matches.
The injury has also reignited debate over the physical strain placed on elite footballers, with many observers pointing to the congested fixture calendar that includes domestic leagues, continental competitions and international commitments.
Both club and country are expected to closely monitor Rodrygo’s rehabilitation, with supporters hoping he can make a full recovery and return to action for the next international cycle.
