The Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers has set up a 9-man committee to mediate the protracted political crisis in the state.
A statement on Wednesday signed by the Chairman of the council, Eze Chike Amadi Worlu-Wodo, said (Dr.) Suanu T. Y. Baridam will serve as the chairman of the committee, while Eze Nwachukwu Nnam Obi will be co-chairman.
The statement said the committee is expected to interface with relevant stakeholders with a view to proffering sustainable and enduring solutions for peace in the state.

Other members of the committee include, Eze Uchechukwu Isaiah-Elikwu, Eze Leslie Eke, Dr. Samuel Amaechi, Dr. Felix Otuwarikpo, Eze Onyekachi Amaonwu, King Agolia Aboko and Eze Nwankwo Nwankwo, with Darlington Owiriwa as secretary.
“In view of the sensitive nature of the issues before the public, we appeal to supporters of all factions, social media enthusiasts and the general public to moderate their comments in order not to escalate the situation.
“We further urge citizens to refrain from acts likely to cause a breach of the peace in the state,” the statement added.
