The Head of the Civil Service of Rivers State, Dr. George Nwaeke, has resigned his appointment.
A statement from the office of the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, which disclosed this said Mrs. Iyingi Brown has been appointed as the head of the civil service in an acting capacity.
The statement issued by an unnamed chief of staff to the administrator, expressed appreciation to the immediate past head of service for his services to the new administration and wished him well in his future endeavours.
“The office of the Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), is saddened to announce the resignation of the Head of Service, Rivers State, Dr. George Nwaeke.
“The administrator appreciates the immense contributions he has shown this administration in the short period he served and wishes him well in his future endeavours.
“In the interim, Dr. (Mrs.) Iyingi Brown, permanent secretary, welfare office of the head of service has been appointed in an acting capacity until a new head of service is appointed.
“While congratulating her on her appointment, the Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas(rtd), assures the people of Rivers State of his commitment to neutrality, peace and stability,” the statement stated.

It was the former head of service who received the administrator when he arrived in the state as the highest-ranking government official left after the other political office holders left with the governor.
It was gathered that the former head of service was eased out, to clear out all vestiges of Gov. Fubara administration in the state.
The aim is allegedly to keep the governor totally in the dark on the workings of the new administration, since the former head of service is perceived to be very close to the governor and could leak information to the governor on the inner workings of the new administration.
Meanwhile, the administrator has appointed Prof. Ibibia Worika as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
A statement from the office of the administrator said the appointment followed the careful consideration of Ibiba’s credentials, extensive experience, and performance during a rigorous selection process.
The statement said Prof. Worika’s distinguished career spans the academia, international legal practice, and high-level policy advisory roles, making him uniquely qualified to support the administrator in the onerous task of achieving his mandate.
The statement further said Prof. Worika’s appointment reflects the administrator’s commitment to harnessing the great human capital of the Rivers people to work with him to achieve much-needed peace, stability and security.
