A political leader in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hanny Woko has called on politicians, and all aggrieved parties in the political crisis rocking the state to borrow a leaf from the Lagos State House of Assembly crisis, and how it was resolved.

Woko, who was the special guest of honour during the commissioning of the refurbished fire fighting station at Rumuodomaya in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area by Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Friday, said there is always an end to every conflict in human relations.

He lamented that for so long, Rivers State has been in the news for the wrong reasons, urging all those involved in the crisis to put the interest of the state, ahead of other considerations.

He pointed out that for 16 unbroken years, Ikwerre sons held the government of Rivers State without anyone raising eyebrows, adding that “let us also allow other ethnic nationalities to serve out their own term.”

The special guest of honour commended Gov. Fubara, for his developmental strides in the state, in the midst of huge challenges, pointing out that Rivers people are feeling his impact in all sectors.

“Rivers people are feeling your impact in just less than two years. We thank you for continuing governance despite distractions. You have come to serve Rivers people, and Rivers people will protect you and this democracy.

“Any nation or state without functional facilities to manage emergencies, is a failed state, and will always rely on the mercy of God, whenever there is an emergency,” he said.

Woko described the commissioning of the fire station, as a timely intervention to serve, and secure property within Obio/Akpor and environs.

In his remarks, Governor Simi Fubara appreciated the people of Obio/Akpor, and all Rivers people for their support to his administration, and urged them to continue to do what is right.

“When I commissioned the headquarters of the fire service the other day, I said there are two more.sub-stations, one in Borokiri and here in Rumuodomaya. We have done the one in Borokiri, band we are here today.

“The essence of the project you already know. So I won’t be speaking for long today. I want to appreciate the people of Obio/Akpor for your support. I can feel it. To all Rivers people all I will say to you, is to continue to do what is right,” he added.
