A letter duly signed by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, informing the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule of the governor’s budget presentation today, has surfaced.
The letter bearing the seal of the Rivers State Government, dated March 11, 2025, was captioned: “Presentation of Rivers State 2025 budget to the Rivers State House of Assembly.”
The letter reads in part: “Please, recall my statewide broadcast on 2nd March, 2025, in which I expressed our unreserved commitment in implementing the recent Supreme Court judgement on the political dispute in Rivers State as soon as the enrolled judgement orders were served on us.
“It was in furtherance of this commitment that we initiated the consultative meeting with the Rivers State House of Assembly for the 10th March, 2025, to consider all the issues raised by the judgment and agree on the way forward for the best interest of our dear state.
“Consequently, we wish to notify the speaker of our desire and intention to present the 2025 Rivers State Appropriation Bill to the Rivers State House of Assembly on Wednesday, 12 March, 2025, at 10 am.”

The governor said though the earlier meeting couldn’t be held, the government has decided to move on to swiftly implement the terms of the judgment having received the certified true copy of the judgment.
Also, a WhatsApp message by one A. J. Beredugo, informing the speaker of the delivery of the soft copy of the governor’s letter to the House was produced.
The message went further to confirm that he called the clerk of the assembly for the delivery of the hard copy, but the clerk said he was not available to receive the letter.
President Bola Tinubu had on Tuesday, said that the only way forward for peace in Rivers State is for Gov. Fubara to follow the rule of law and implement the Supreme Court judgement.
