The Rivers House of Assembly on Thursday resolved to probe the state’s finances during the six-month rule of Ibok-Ete Ibas as the sole administrator.

The lawmakers also urged Governor Siminalayi Fubara to transmit the list of commissioners’ nominees for screening.

The two decisions were the highlight of the lawmaker’s sitting as they resumed plenary after President Bola Tinubu lifted the six month old emergency rule which shut them out of normal activities.

Speaker of the House, Martins Amaewhule, presided over the plenary at the conference hall of the legislative quarters.

The assembly is still under construction following its demolition months ago by the state government.

Perversive outcry had trailed the exit of Ibok-ete Ibas, the administrator appointed by President Tinubu to oversee the state without rendering an account of his stewardship bordering on how he managed the state funds.

This might have nececitated the move by the lawmakers to probe Ibas tenure.
