River United have extended the lead on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table to four points after they defeated Enyimba 2-0 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
The gap between the second-place Plateau United and River United on the NPFL table was reduced to a point on Sunday after the former won MFM with two first-half goals.
However, Rivers United, who took on the eight times NPFL champions Enyimba, scored a spot-kick in the 21st minute and rounded the 2-0 scoreline with Chiamaka Madu’s 34 minutes goal.
The victory against the Peoples Elephant of Aba completes the 12th unbeaten streak of Rivers United in the NPFL games which according to the club, is the longest unbeaten run in the NPFL this season.

Meanwhile, Enyimba after the loss, acknowledged that they were not in their best form in the game.
The two times CAF Champions League winners made several frantic efforts to steal a point but were unlucky.
Apparently, this is the third loss Enyimba has conceded away from home after losing to Heartland on 26 February.
In the next NPFL fixtures, Rivers United travels to take on sixth-place Sunshine Stars in continuation of its campaign for the league title while Enyimba slugs it out with Kano Pillars which was recently slammed by the LMC for infringements.
