The House of Representatives has postponed its planned resumption of plenary, originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
The new resumption date is now set for Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
This announcement was made through an internal memorandum issued by the Clerk to the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, on the directive of the House leadership.
The memo said the decision to postpone plenary resumption was taken to allow House committees additional time to conclude ongoing budget engagements and defence with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The extension is intended to ensure a thorough and comprehensive approach to the budget review process.

“The House remains committed to fulfilling its legislative mandate for the benefit of Nigerians and appreciates the understanding of all stakeholders,” the memorandum stated.
House spokesman, Rep. Akin Rotimi (Jnr), who also confirmed the development in a statement on Friday, reaffirmed the House’s dedication to its legislative responsibilities.
The rescheduled plenary date comes as the House is working to finalise critical budgetary reviews and address pressing legislative matters.
