The House of Representatives has felicitated Christians in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of Easter, urging citizens to embrace unity, compassion and renewed commitment to national development.
In a statement on Saturday signed by the House spokesman, Rep. Akin Rotimi, the House said Easter, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, remains a cornerstone of the Christian faith, symbolising the triumph of life over death and hope over despair.
It noted that the season’s enduring message promotes values such as forgiveness, service to others and dedication to the common good.
The lawmakers said beyond its spiritual significance, Easter presents an opportunity for national reflection, stressing that Nigeria can achieve renewal through unity, reconciliation and a shared sense of purpose.
The House therefore called on Nigerians to uphold these ideals in strengthening democratic governance, responsible citizenship and social cohesion.
Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, in his goodwill message, urged Christians to emulate the teachings of Jesus Christ, whom he described as a “perfect role model for all.”

He also called for sustained prayers for the country and mutual respect among people of different faiths and ethnic backgrounds.
According to him, “prayers have indeed attracted divine intervention to socio-economic, political and religious challenges that have torn other nations apart.”
The House reiterated its commitment to fostering a just, peaceful and prosperous Nigeria, expressing hope that the spirit of Easter would inspire greater service to the nation and strengthen collective resolve toward national progress.
