The South-East Zonal National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Chidiebere Goodluck Egwu has Lauded the new Acting National Chairman of the Party, Mohammed Abdulrahaman.

Egwu said the emergence of Abdulrahaman as the acting National Chairman of PDP at this point in time is a crucial opportunity for the reinvention of the party.

He urged him to use this opportunity to liaise with other organs of the party, including the Board of Trustees (BoT), the National Executive Committee (NEC) and other stakeholders to rejig the great party.

This was contained in a statement Egwu personally issued on Monday and made available to The Trumpet.

According to the statement, Nigerians have been shortchanged over the years by the inactive and nonchalant attitude of the PDP leadership as Nigeria’s major opposition political party.

“We, therefore, urge you to reverse this trend by ensuring that the PDP unite as one powerful family to proffer a credible alternative to Nigerians.

It stated that the PDP nurtured Nigerian democracy from 1999 to 2015 when the country was hijacked and ever since, the country has been in a free fall from the economy to national security.

“On behalf of the teeming members of the PDP in the Southeast, as we congratulate you, we urge you to use this opportunity to unite our dear party and retrieve it from the stranglehold of anti-democratic forces so that we can face the 2027 general elections squarely as one united family.
