The Nigerian Red Cross Society is pushing for wider immunization coverage in the country.
The charity organisation stated this as part of a campaign, across 29 African countries, including Nigeria.
The Senior Project Officer with the Nigerian Red Cross, Dr Ahmed Abdulmajid, spoke to journalists in Port Harcourt on the sidelines of the State Entry Meeting of Data Collectors and Stakeholders at Visa Karina Hotel.
Adbulmajid said the Save-a-Life and Livelihood Project is aimed at upgrading vaccine uptake for children under five and other age groups, including healthcare workers, adolescents, adults, youth, people living with disabilities, and women.
The Project Officer also said the project seeks to support governments in making vaccines more accessible.
According to him,the project intends to assist in bridging some of the challenges and provide technical assistance to enhance local vaccine production capacity.

Abdulmajid said the project, supported by the Africa Centre for Disease Control, Africa CDC, and the Mastercard Foundation is piloted in 10 states, including Rivers State, and is expected to run until December 2025.
Highlights of the meeting include further training of data collectors; and data report presentation from the representatives of LGAs in Rivers State who were in attendance.
