Russian state-owned TV has hosted an eery discussion over the scale of damage a nuclear weapon could have on New York if missiles were to fire at the United States.
Russian TV pundits have been debating the destructive power of the Kremlin’s nuclear weapons amid aggravating tensions between Moscow and the West. The Trumpet Gathered
Evgeny Buzhinskiy, a former Lt General in Vladimir Putin’s army told the Russian state-owned Russia1 channel how a 7.5 megaton nuclear rocket could be launched over the South Pole to devastate New York.
Buzhinskiy said, “Americans don’t have these kinds of rockets and never had them. What’s attractive about the South Pole”.
“We know right away where to send it via the North pole, or the South Pole,” jumped in another guest.
“We have only one target!” the former Lt General continued, “The continental territory of the US.”
RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan asked: If this rocket ends up over there in the worst-case scenario what kind of objects can it destroy.

“If 7.5 megatons will be delivered to the territory of our so-called partner, then objects like the city of New York. A good city, but it would be gone,” replied Buzhinskiy.
“Completely gone, with one rocket. Completely, I mean, completely,” he emphasized.
There have been reports that Putin has taken to carrying Russia’s nuclear launch codes with him in a bid to prevent assassination attempts. He is absolutely terrified of this happening.
On Tuesday, Jeremy Vine discussed Putin’s reported nuclear paranoia with the panel of his Channel 5 talk show.
Mr Vine told the programme, “There’s been a sort of suggestion that he’s swerved an assassination attempt but frustratingly Benjamin we don’t hear how and why and who?”
Panellist Benjamin Butterworth replied, Yes, exactly, and it comes from the head of intelligence from Ukraine so you know, maybe there’s a certain propaganda element to why they’ve spread this.
