Paris Saint-Germain, the UEFA club champions, will make their debut in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final in Doha on December 17.
FIFA has announced that European Champions League winners PSG will face off in their first-ever Intercontinental Cup final in Qatar.
The identity of their opponents will be determined just four days prior, during the Challenger Cup play-off.
This play-off will feature Egyptian club Pyramids, the African champions, competing against the winner of the match between Mexico’s Cruz Azul, the Central American champions, and the eventual champion of the Copa Libertadores.
The Copa Libertadores is currently in the semi-final phase, with two Brazilian teams still in contention. Palmeiras is set to play LDU Quito from Ecuador, while Flamengo will face the Argentine team Racing.
The final of the Copa Libertadores is scheduled for November 29.
From 1960 to 2004, the Intercontinental Cup matched the champions of Europe and South America.
