Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) maintained their position at the top of Ligue 1 with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over 10-man Lens on Saturday, but coach Luis Enrique was more focused on the positives rather than the missed opportunities.
PSG took an early lead just four minutes into the match, but despite creating numerous chances and benefiting from a red card shown to Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov in the 60th minute, the home side could not extend their lead.
“What I will remember from this game is that we worked hard and delivered a complete performance against an aggressive, daring team that made it difficult for us,” Enrique said during the post-match press conference. “They didn’t let us play at our usual tempo, but we managed to create a lot of chances from the beginning. We deserved to score more goals. I think it is a fair win—hard-fought but a fair result. Three more points in the bag.”

With this victory, PSG remains unbeaten in the league, accumulating 26 points, six ahead of second-placed AS Monaco and eight ahead of Lille. The attacking trio of Ousmane Dembélé, Marco Asensio, and Bradley Barcola showcased their skills, generating several excellent opportunities against Lens.
Enrique also addressed ongoing media speculation regarding the team’s performance, stating, “I never look at the press, but since the start of the season, there have been rumors that we are not the best team. That has not been true. We must continue through the season as we have been doing.”
He emphasized the need for improvement, saying, “We have to maintain the same intention of competing at the top level and improving, because there is still a lot of room for improvement. That’s my mentality, and that is what I want.”
As PSG looks to build on this victory, fans remain optimistic about their title defense and the potential for further success this season.
