Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has said he is set to face trial following an allegation of rape made against him in France.
A 24-year-old woman accused the Morocco international of raping her at his home in Paris in 2023. Hakimi has strongly denied the allegation.
The public prosecutor’s office in Nanterre, a western suburb of the French capital, opened a preliminary investigation in March 2023. According to his legal team, a trial has now been ordered, although no date has been fixed.
Responding to the development, Hakimi wrote on X that he would await the judicial process.
“Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial. This is as unjust to the innocent as it is to the genuine victims. I calmly await this trial, which will allow the truth to come out publicly,” he stated.
His lawyer confirmed in a statement that proceedings would move forward, adding: “It is with determination and resolve that we await this trial so that justice may be served.”
Sports reporters have contacted the Nanterre prosecutor’s office for comment.

Hakimi, 27, was born in Spain but represents Morocco at international level. Since joining Paris Saint-Germain, he has made 194 appearances for the club and played a key role in their domestic and European successes, including last season’s Ligue 1 title and UEFA Champions League triumph.
His performances were recently recognised at the Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in Paris, where he was named in the FIFPro Men’s World Team of the Year.
Hakimi was also included in PSG’s squad for Wednesday’s Champions League knockout round play-off second leg against Monaco.
On the international stage, he is expected to feature for Morocco at this summer’s FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, where the North African side will face Scotland, Haiti and Brazil in the group stage.
The case now moves to trial, where the court will determine the outcome of the allegations.
