Professor Okey Reuben Okechukwu, Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Isu, Ebonyi State, has called for comprehensive reforms in technical education focused on equipping teachers with ICT skills. Addressing the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) conference, he emphasized the need for ICT training to enhance teaching and learning.
The conference with the theme,” Capacity Building of 650 Teachers Educators on the Use of ICT for Teaching and Learning (E-Learning) with the aim of exposing and widening the knowledge of the academic staff of the institution on ICT training.
According to him,” We have come to educate the staffs on capacity building of 650 teachers education on the use of ICT for teaching and learning””ICT plays a vital role in enhancing the teaching and learning experiences, the training will move the entire college community to higher level”
The Provost commended former President Muhammadu Buhari, who gave a boost to Nigeria teacher education by establishing more Colleges of Education in the country.
“This initiative was aimed at producing professionally qualified, groomed and trained teachers that will compete with the global world”.
‘I thank NCCE and UBEC for the love extended to our College, we promise to put into practice all knowledge impacted to us during the training, I urge all participants to corporate with them and enjoy this training as expected”

Earlier in a remark, the Executive Secretary National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) Professor Paulinus Chijoke Okwelle, represented by the Finance and Accounts Mr Ukoh I Ukoh, said that the training was aimed at equipping teachers and educators with the tools necessary for education to strive.
“The programme is being extended to 13 more Colleges of Education , 50 more academic staff will partake in the exercise”.
” The expansion underscores the unwavering commitment of NCCE towards equipping teachers and educators nationwide”
In attendance during the conference included the Acting Registrar Mrs. Ekezie Ifeanyinwa, B.A, Bursar Mr. Offor Nwode Ojeh, Librarian Mr. Lawal Shauibu and Directors of the institution.
Others include representatives from National Commission for Colleges of Education , Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), RAADAR officials and Staffs of the College among others.
It should be noted that the Federal College of Education Technical Isu, was among the six Federal Colleges of Education established in May, 2020 by the administration of former President Muhammed Buhari.
The College has four Deans handling different schools which include School of Education and General Studies with five departments, School of Secondary Education (Sciences) with six departments, School of Secondary Education (Vocational) with four departments.
