A coalition of 199 pro-Igbo progressive groups has assured the people of the South-East that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to addressing the region’s needs and advancing its socio-economic aspirations.
The coalition, operating under the platform Ndigbo for Tinubu 2027, also condemned what it described as unfounded media attacks on President Tinubu by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, rejecting claims that the administration is promoting a one-party state in Nigeria.
While acknowledging the senator’s constitutional right to express his views on national issues, the groups said his assertions were misleading and failed to reflect Nigeria’s political realities. They argued that internal crises within opposition parties should not be wrongly attributed to any alleged agenda by the president to undermine democratic pluralism.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the National Coordinator of Ndigbo for Tinubu 2027, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and the Director of Media and Publicity, Dr. Ugwuoke E. Ugwuoke, the coalition said it was compelled to respond to what it described as repeated misrepresentations that could distort public perception, particularly the claim that Senator Abaribe speaks on behalf of the entire Igbo nation.
The group dismissed allegations questioning the legitimacy of President Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election, stressing that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Tinubu winner and that the outcome was subsequently upheld by the Supreme Court.
Describing contrary claims as false and damaging, the coalition warned that continued dissemination of such allegations could undermine democratic institutions and may prompt legal steps to protect the president’s reputation.

The statement also condemned comments allegedly attributed to Senator Abaribe suggesting that Tinubu’s supporters or political appointees could face violence if they campaign in the South-East ahead of the 2027 elections. The group described such remarks as inflammatory and unrepresentative of the region’s prevailing political atmosphere.
According to the coalition, political cooperation between the South-East and the federal government remains strong, noting that three governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and two from opposition parties in the region currently work in alignment with the Tinubu administration.
The group cited what it described as significant federal investments in the South-East, valued at about N1.5 trillion, as well as the appointment of an Igbo indigene as Minister of Works for the first time in 74 years, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance.
It further rejected claims portraying President Tinubu’s leadership as authoritarian, describing such narratives as attempts to delegitimize a constitutionally elected government and weaken Nigeria’s democratic framework.
The coalition urged Senator Abaribe to exercise restraint in public commentary and to consider the broader implications of his statements on national cohesion.
Reaffirming its position, Ndigbo for Tinubu 2027 expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, stating that despite prevailing economic and security challenges, tangible progress has been recorded under his administration.
The group pledged continued support for President Tinubu and endorsed his re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
