President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially submitted the proposed N1.78 trillion FCT budget for the 2025 fiscal year to the House of Representatives. The FCT Appropriation Bill was presented to the National Assembly in a letter read by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen during Tuesday’s plenary session.
Citing Section 299 of the Nigerian Constitution, which empowers the National Assembly to legislate for the FCT, President Tinubu emphasized that the proposed budget is designed to strengthen critical sectors such as healthcare, job creation, social welfare, agriculture, and infrastructure. He revealed that a substantial 85% of the capital expenditure is dedicated to completing ongoing projects, ensuring that long-abandoned initiatives are finally brought to life. The remaining 15% will go towards launching new, strategic developments to drive growth and economic stability within the territory.
