Amid growing conversations and speculations on social media regarding the fairness of federal appointments, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) has firmly rejected claims of bias, reaffirming the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to national unity, equity, and fair representation across all regions.
In an official statement released on Friday, April 11, 2025, the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, stated that contrary to the narratives being circulated, all appointments under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration are in full compliance with the federal character principle as stipulated in Section 14 of the 1999 Constitution (as altered).
“The Federal Government has made it clear that appointments are not only lawful but also driven by the ideals of inclusiveness and justice,” the statement read. “President Tinubu is deeply committed to the unity of Nigeria and remains guided by fairness and integrity in his leadership.”
Highlighting the administration’s policy direction under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the OSGF emphasized that the government’s goal is to ensure that every geopolitical zone, ethnic group, and demographic in the country feels seen, heard, and adequately represented in the nation’s governance and decision-making processes.

The statement further urged Nigerians to disregard unfounded allegations and divisive commentaries being peddled by mischief-makers on social platforms. The public was reminded to rely solely on verified government channels for accurate and updated information regarding federal appointments.
“The Government will not be distracted by those who stoke the flames of hate and disunity,” the OSGF added. “We remain focused on building a Nigeria where fairness and national interest prevail over sentiment and misinformation.”
Citizens and stakeholders seeking clarity on the matter are encouraged to direct their inquiries to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, which serves as the official custodian and coordinator of federal appointments.
