Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has urged staff of the Federal Ministry of Works to brace for the demands of 2026, calling on them to face the year with resilience, unity and a renewed sense of purpose.

Umahi gave the charge in his New Year message to the ministry, stressing that the months ahead would come with challenges that must be approached as opportunities rather than setbacks.

“As we enter this new year, everyone in the Federal Ministry of Works is urged to embrace the challenges ahead with optimism and teamwork,” the minister said, adding that the new year should inspire confidence, faith and strength among workers.

He described 2026 as a season of fresh starts and new beginnings, urging staff to see the demands of their duties as avenues for growth, higher productivity and personal development. According to him, challenges are not obstacles but tools that push people beyond their comfort zones and help them acquire new skills and perspectives.

Umahi expressed optimism that the new year would usher in stronger resolve and greater achievements for staff of the ministry, noting that productivity would improve as workers rise to meet their responsibilities.

In a related remark that has continued to draw public attention, the former Ebonyi State governor also dismissed claims of marginalisation of the Igbo in Nigeria, insisting that the narrative no longer reflects current realities.

Umahi’s message comes at a time when expectations are high on the Federal Ministry of Works to deliver on critical infrastructure projects nationwide, as the Federal Government pushes for accelerated road construction and rehabilitation across the country.
