Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Wednesday held a closed-door meeting with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, and Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, at the Government House in Bauchi.

The high-level meeting, which excluded journalists and key party officials, has drawn attention due to its timing and the political figures involved. Sources described the session as strictly private, with no official briefing issued after its conclusion.

Neither Governor Mohammed nor the APC chairman addressed the media, maintaining that the engagement was confidential. However, the development has triggered fresh speculation among political observers about possible alliances and realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting comes amid recent indications by Governor Mohammed that he may be considering a shift from his current political platform. Earlier in the week, a delegation of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, visited the governor as part of ongoing consultations.

During the visit, Mohammed reportedly described the ADC as a viable and enduring political platform, suggesting it could play a significant role in the evolving political landscape. He added that any decision regarding his political future would be made after broad consultations with stakeholders.

Observers say the latest meeting with APC leadership and the Kano State governor may signal deeper political calculations as key actors begin to position themselves ahead of the next election cycle.

An official statement on Governor Mohammed’s political direction is expected soon.
