Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) is abuzz after political commentator Morris Monye criticized government aides, stating he would never accept a senior special assistant role that pays just ₦100,000 per month.
“Wahalai, I swear to God, if I collect SSA from any state governor for ₦100,000 per month, my standing within my family will just die,” Morris posted on X, sparking significant reactions.
An aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Ossai Success, did not take the comment lightly. He promptly responded, calling out Morris for being disrespectful:
“You are talking carelessly. Are you better than those in SSA positions?” he tweeted.
Morris, undeterred, retaliated by claiming that Ossai once invited him to speak at a social media summit and that many SSAs often “beg him behind closed doors.”
“Was it not you who was begging me to come to your program as a guest speaker, and I turned you down?
“All of your fellow SSAs are always asking me for one thing or another. Am I the governor? You people should leave me alone,” he replied.
Ossai did not let that go unchallenged. He accused Morris of leaking their private chats and misrepresenting the situation.
The governor’s aide explained that the invitation was professional and included an offer of payment, not begging.
“I was trying to compensate you for your services… I have a social media event that I’m organizing, and I reached out to you just like I would every other speaker. How is that begging?” Ossai asserted.
The confrontation between the duo escalated further.

Ossai went on a tirade, calling Morris a “child with a possible mental disorder” and claiming he was disgracing the Monye family name.
He also stated that no SSA in Delta State earns ₦100,000, issuing a challenge:
“If Morris can provide any evidence of an SSA to the Delta State governor receiving ₦100,000 as salary, I will personally give him ₦5 million. I am here waiting.”
He added that ₦100,000 is a small amount for him and other SSAs, stating they “use it as a giveaway every three days.”
The conflict didn’t stop on X. Ossai has announced that he is taking legal action:
“I’m taking legal action against Morris Monye… After our disagreement on Twitter, he shared screenshots of our private chats. This breach of privacy is unacceptable, and I’m pressing charges.”
Ossai insists that Morris is only upset because he was not featured in the widely publicized Delta Social Media Summit.
