The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued three children and their mother from a violent domestic abuse incident in Mpape, Bwari Area Council, Abuja.
The suspect, identified as 45-year-old David Tersoo, a contractor with a known history of domestic abuse, was arrested after police operatives stormed his residence.
He was found in possession of a pump-action gun, suspected hard drugs, and other illicit substances, according to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.
On September 9, 2025, the police said it received a distress call reporting that Tersoo had brutally assaulted his eight-year-old and three-year-old daughters while forcing their mother and nine-month-old baby out of the house in the middle of the night.
The FCT commissioner of police immediately dispatched the divisional police officer of Mpape Division and operatives from the Gender Unit.
Working with officials from the Ministry of Women Affairs, the police officers successfully rescued the children, one of whom was found with visible bruises.

Their mother was later traced and placed in protective custody with the children.
Police said the suspect locked himself behind a bulletproof door while armed, and after sustained efforts, he was subdued and arrested.
Recovered from the suspect were a pump-action gun, white powder, and other substances suspected to be narcotics.
Tersoo has since been taken for drug testing, while investigations continue.
The commissioner of police praised the role of vigilant neighbours and the Ministry of Women’s Affairs in preventing what could have escalated into a deadly situation.
He further urged victims of domestic violence in Abuja to speak out, assuring residents of the command’s commitment to protecting vulnerable persons, curbing gender-based violence, and ensuring justice is served.
“Investigations are ongoing. Further updates will be provided in due course,” Adeh added.
