The Kano State Police Command has rescued a man from a mob following an alleged blasphemy incident at a hotel in the Badawa area of Kano metropolis.

Sources told journalists that the incident occurred around 9. 45 pm on December 21, at the Sarina Hotel, located in Badawa Quarters.

They said the police received a distress call that three men identified as Musa Tasiu, Awwal Ibrahim, and Soja Snu, all residents of Dorayi Quarters, had visited the hotel to smoke shisha.

One of the sources said trouble started when Musa Tasiu allegedly entered the hotel’s mosque, broke the glass door, picked a copy of the Holy Qur’an, and tore it.

“Following the incident, people within the premises mobilised in large numbers, and the suspect was on the verge of being lynched,” the source said.

It was gathered that a patrol team attached to the division swiftly responded to the distress call, rescued the suspect from the mob, and restored calm in the area.

Police sources confirmed that the situation had been brought under control, adding that investigation into the incident was ongoing.
