Police officers from the Ughelli ‘A’ Division in Delta State have rescued a suspected armed robber, Kelvin Ochuko, who was found severely injured at the scene of an attempted robbery in Oviri-Ogor community, Ughelli North Local Government Area.
The suspect, reportedly attacked with a machete by unknown individuals, was discovered in a pool of blood near a caravan store he had allegedly broken into at the Oviri-Ogor community market.
According to local sources, Ochuko, who is from the Oghara Agbarha community, was allegedly part of a four-person gang that attempted to steal from several locations, including a church and nearby stores. Although Ochuko was injured and left behind, three other suspects managed to escape.

A source in the community stated, “The boy confessed that he and three others, now at large, were on the mission before he was brutally injured.”
The suspects reportedly stole church instruments, which were later found abandoned in a nearby bush.
Following the attack, community leaders contacted the police, who responded swiftly and transported Ochuko to a hospital.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Edafe Bright, was unavailable for comment, but a senior police officer confirmed the incident and said that the suspect is under medical care. Community members expressed concerns over Ochuko’s survival due to the severity of his injuries and blood loss.
