The police has stepped up its efforts to combat violent crimes, including kidnapping and banditry, through coordinated nationwide operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks in the first quarter of 2025.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Monday.
According to the statement, operations have led to significant outcomes, including the rescue of numerous victims, arrests of key suspects, and the seizure of weapons and illicit funds.
It also stated that in Taraba State, police operatives conducted a successful operation on March 29, 2025, responding to a kidnapping in progress in Muji Town.
“This led to a fierce gun battle, resulting in the rescue of 20 kidnapped victims and the recovery of abandoned vehicles at the scene.
“Two injured individuals are currently receiving medical care,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, in Kano State, police launched an investigation following the kidnapping of Dr. Muhammad Yushau on March 8.

The police investigation led to the arrest of several suspects, including Tukur Lawal and his accomplices, who were found with a locally made rifle, and a significant amount of cash suspected to be ransom money.
The victim was safely rescued and reunited with his family.
In another operation, the statement said the special tactical squad arrested Kafinta Musa in Taraba State, for armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms, recovering an AK-49 rifle during the arrest.
Adejobi said the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the officers for their bravery and professionalism.
He emphasized the importance of public cooperation in providing timely information to help combat crime, highlighting the joint commitment of the police and citizens to ensure community safety and security.
