The Delta State Police Command says it rescued a kidnapped woman and a young man in Asaba, the state capital on November 27, 2024.
A statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Edafe Bright, on his X handle, said the victims were rescued by the command’s anti-kidnapping squad which acted promptly, after receiving a distress call reporting the abduction.
Edafe explained that the victims were reportedly abducted in their own vehicle, a Toyota Camry, which the assailants used for their operation.
“The team traced the vehicle towards Ezenie in Asaba and intensified efforts through a thorough stop-and-search operation. During the operation, a vehicle matching the victims car description was spotted. Upon sighting the police, the suspected kidnappers made a U-turn in a bid to evade capture.
“A high-speed chase ensued, leading to the suspects fleeing to Okwe, where they hurriedly abandoned both their operational vehicle and the victims car. The criminals managed to escape on foot, leaving behind an arsenal of weapons concealed in their car.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in Delta State, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
“Investigations into the case are ongoing as the command intensifies efforts to bring the culprits to justice,” Edafe added.
