The Adamawa State Police Command has reopened investigations into a 2023 acid attack that left three victims, including Miss Eve Usman Kwala, with severe injuries.
The move follows renewed public outcry and recent media reports demanding justice in the case, which had gone cold after initial investigations failed to yield any arrests.
In a statement issued over the weekend and signed by the Command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Y. Nguroje, the police confirmed that although the incident was thoroughly documented at the time, no suspects were apprehended. Nguroje said the renewed pressure from victims and concerned members of the public prompted the Command to act.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Investigations to immediately review the case file, reassess earlier findings, and gather both new and existing evidence. The directive also includes identifying and interrogating all persons linked, directly or indirectly, to the 2023 attack.
The Command urged members of the public with credible information to come forward, assuring that all tips would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
Reiterating its commitment to justice and public safety, the police assured residents that no serious criminal matter especially one as grievous as an acid attack would be allowed to fade without accountability.
