The Kaduna State government and the Kaduna State Police Command have refuted reports suggesting that over 100 worshippers were kidnapped during assaults on two churches in the Kajuru Local Government Area.
The reports alleged that armed bandits stormed the Cherubim and Seraphim Church 1 and Church 2 in the Kurmin Wali community, while services were in progress and abducted attendees.
However, the state Police Commissioner, Muhammad Rabiu on Tuesday labeled the claims as false and misleading.
After a State Security Council meeting in Kaduna, Rabiu stated that the information was being disseminated by individuals attempting to instill fear and chaos in the state.
He challenged those making the allegations to provide names and details of the supposed victims, warning that anyone spreading unverified information would face legal consequences.
In addition, the Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, Dauda Madaki, stated that investigations conducted by the council and security agencies revealed that no such attack occurred.
He mentioned that security personnel visited the community and the churches in question but found no evidence of any kidnapping.

Madaki stated that local leaders and youth representatives also confirmed that there had been no attack or abduction.
He urged residents to stay calm and continue with their daily routines.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Sule Shuaibu, noted that religious leaders who later visited the area corroborated that the circulating reports were untrue.
He emphasized that the state government maintains a strict stance against criminal activities.
Meanwhile, the Northern Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) had previously raised concerns, claiming that numerous worshippers had been abducted, while the opposition Peoples Democratic Party called for immediate rescue efforts.
Despite these assertions, Kaduna authorities maintain that the alleged church attacks and mass kidnappings did not occur.
