The Borno State Police Command has recovered a hidden cache of 912 rounds of ammunition in Maiduguri, marking another breakthrough in its ongoing security operations across the state.
The discovery was made on January 4 at about 2:00 pm when police operatives from Lamisula Division, led by the divisional police officer, acted on credible intelligence and carried out a search in the Kumshe Jamba Mari area of the state capital.
The police command said the department of explosive ordnance disposal was immediately deployed to the scene after the ammunition was uncovered.
The area was cordoned off to ensure public safety, and a total of 912 rounds of B32 API-type ammunition 7.62 x 51mm calibre, were safely recovered.
The state Commissioner of Police in Borno State, Naziru Abdulmajid, said the recovered ammunition has been secured while investigations continue to determine its source and intended use.
