The Kaduna State Police Command has raided major criminal spots in the state capital, in an operation that resulted in the detention of 182 suspects.

During the raids on criminal hideouts, police officers recovered a car, an AK-47 rifle, 31 rounds of ammunition, and 30 bags of marijuana.

This information was contained in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, on Saturday.

He explained that the police are taking actions to eliminate crime and ensure the safety of residents in Kaduna State.

The operations by the police targeted known criminal hotspots and were led by local police leaders in neighbourhoods such as Rigasa, Kawo, Tudun Wada, and Sabon Tasha.

According to Hassan, a total of 183 suspects were apprehended during the raids, adding that the police aim to build public trust and enhance security for everyone in the state.

He revealed that on Friday, police officers during raid in Rigasa, uncovered illegal drugs, including 1,600 wraps of what is believed to be marijuana, alongside the recovered weapons.

Hassan also mentioned an incident where residents in Rafin Guza found a bag during a police chase that contained a magazine for an AK-47 rifle loaded with live ammunition. The police are actively investigating to find those responsible.

Additionally, he said police in Kakuri, acting on a tip-off, arrested a man named Ziya Abdullah, who was trying to sell a suspiciously stolen vehicle.

This led to the arrest of his accomplice, Bashir Usman, known as ‘Yellow’. They admitted to robbing someone by using knives and cutlasses to steal a Honda Accord car, which was later found in Zaria.

The police added that some of the detained suspects have already been charged, while others are being further investigated.

The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, has stated that the police are committed to fighting crime and encouraged local residents to share any useful information to assist in these efforts.

He reassured the community that their safety remains a top priority.
