The Kwara State Police Command has initiated an investigation into allegations of extortion against police officers on the Osi-Eruku Road in the Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.
The development was publicly announced in a statement released on Tuesday in Ilorin, the state capital, by the command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi.
In the statement, Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed that the command is aware of a circulating video on social media that purportedly shows police officers engaging in extortion while on duty.

The state Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, responded swiftly by ordering an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the matter.
He emphasized that should any police officer be identified and proven to be involved in misconduct, they would face suitable disciplinary measures.
The state police command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining professionalism, integrity, and accountability in its operations, promising transparency and appropriate action against any misconduct.
