The Ebonyi State Police Command said it has recorded another breakthrough in continuation of its sustained onslaught against violent crime in the state.
It said the breakthrough was recorded following the recent surge in armed robbery incidents and criminal activities in the Iyonu community in Ishielu Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the state Commissioner of Police, Adaku Uche-Anya, through the command’s spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, disclosed that on August 29, 2025, operatives of the command’s Crack Squad, acting on credible intelligence, launched a clearance operation on the criminals’ hideout located in the Iyonu Forest.
The command stated that during the operation, the hoodlums engaged the operatives in a gun battle, during which the police gallantly responded, subduing the criminals.
