A 54 years old suspected female gunrunner has been arrested by the men of the Nigerian Police Force, (NPF) in Yobe state.
The suspect who was identified as Hamsatu Modu was caught on Monday with 350 rounds of live 7.62×39mm ammunition.
In a statement made available to journalists in the state by the Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the arrest followed a tip-off about a gunrunner traveling to Damaturu.
“Acting on this intelligence, police operatives from the ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters intercepted a Golf 3 saloon car and, during a thorough search, uncovered the hidden ammunition.” The statement read.

Commending the officers involved, Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, said, “This breakthrough demonstrates our unwavering commitment to combating crime and safeguarding Yobe State.”
He added that the suspect who hailed from Morami Village in Jakana Konduga local government council of Borno State, is undergoing interrogation to expose the criminal network behind the arms trafficking.
The commissioner urged community members to cooperate with law enforcement, stating, “Public support is crucial in our quest to eradicate crime. We assure the people of Yobe State of our dedication to their safety and security.”
He further emphasized that the command will continue working with neighboring states to prevent the spread of illegal arms.
