Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested four suspected armed robbers in separate sting operations in Asaba and Ubulu-Okiti, recovering a Beretta pistol, a pump-action rifle, two double-barreled guns, and live cartridges.
The state Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, disclosed this on Wednesday during a press briefing in Asaba.
According to him, the first arrest occurred on August 16, 2025, at about 5:11 a.m., when operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) intercepted a man carrying a cross bag during a stop-and-search along DBS Road, Asaba.
The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Bassey Udoh of Custom Market, Asaba, was found in possession of an English-made Beretta pistol.
Olufemi revealed that a preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is part of a syndicate that specializes in breaking into people’s homes and carting away their properties.
The police commissioner added that the suspect confessed to purchasing the gun for ₦30,000.
Also, in a separate operation, officers of the CP-Decoy Squad, acting on credible intelligence, raided a criminal hideout near Rana Construction Company in the Ubulu-Okiti community on August 21, 2025.

Three suspects, Igwe Ameachi, Chibuzor Ojiogwu, and Ekene Ibigweh, all from Imo State, were arrested.
The police recovered one pump-action rifle, two double-barreled guns, and two live cartridges during the operation.
The suspects are currently in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
The commissioner of police assured that efforts are underway to track down other members of the criminal gangs and dismantle their networks.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide actionable intelligence to security operatives in the fight against violent crime across Delta State.
