Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, announced that police tactical units, military forces, and other security agencies have been dispatched to the area and are actively searching nearby forests as part of a coordinated rescue mission to rescued the abducted school girls.
The commissioner of Police Niger state, CP Adamu Elleman, further reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to safely rescue all abducted students.
The recent incident in Niger is part of an ongoing trend of schoolchildren abductions.
Security efforts have ramped up in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, following the kidnapping of an unspecified number of students from St. Mary’s Catholic Secondary School early Friday morning.
A statement released on Friday further stated that, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Elleman, emphasized the Command’s resolve to bring all abducted students back unharmed.
He urged the community to remain calm and to provide any credible information that could aid the ongoing operation.
Additionally, the CP revealed that the situation is under investigation and warned that appropriate measures would be taken against the school management for reopening and continuing classes despite a prior directive from the Niger State Government mandating the closure of schools in the region due to increased security threats.
Rescue efforts are ongoing as security forces continue their search for the missing students.

The statement noted: “Police tactical units and military forces have been deployed to Papiri for the immediate rescue of the kidnapped students from St. Mary’s Private (Catholic) Secondary School, Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area.
“The Niger State Police Command confirms that on November 21, 2025, at approximately 2:00 AM, reports indicated that armed bandits invaded St. Mary’s Private (Catholic) Secondary School, Papiri Agwara LGA, and abducted an undetermined number of students from the school’s hostel.
“Police tactical units, military forces, and other security agencies have responded to the scene and are combing the forests in an effort to rescue the abducted students.
“In light of this, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman reiterated the Command’s dedication to rescuing the students unharmed and appealed to the public to remain calm and assist security operations in their efforts to recover the students.
“He further assured that this incident will be thoroughly investigated, and necessary actions will be taken against the school management for continuing academic activities in violation of the State government’s directive regarding school closures due to security concerns.”
