The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced a major security operation targeting criminal elements across the territory, as part of efforts to sustain peace and protect residents.
In a statement on Sunday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has ordered a massive and sustained crackdown to last from November 2025 through January 2026.
According to the statement, the CP directed all tactical and surveillance units under the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), alongside operatives of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) and the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), to join forces with the Department of Operations and all divisional formations for a territory-wide cleanup.
“The special operation is aimed at identifying, dislodging, and apprehending all criminal elements hibernating within the nooks and crannies of the FCT,” the statement read in part.
CP Dantawaye was quoted as saying that the exercise would be “intensive and consistent,” with officers directed to dominate identified black spots, criminal hideouts, and vulnerable communities across Abuja.
The police boss also cautioned officers participating in the operation to remain professional and disciplined, warning that any act of misconduct, abuse of power, or unprofessional behaviour would not be tolerated.
