The Adamawa State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the kidnappers who abducted two Catholic priests, Rev. Father Mathew David Dusami of Yola Diocese and Rev. Father Abraham Samman of Jalingo Diocese.
The incident, according to the statement made available to journalists in Yola on Sunday, occurred in the early hours of Saturday at the priests’ residence in Gwaida Malam, Numan Local Government Area.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, said in the statement that the armed assailants, stormed the home of Rev. Fr. Dusami around 4:00 am, and forcefully took the clergymen to an unknown location.
Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, according to the statement, strongly condemned the abduction, describing it as an unprovoked attack on religious leaders who play a key role in promoting peace in society.
In response, the police chief, the statement said, has deployed tactical teams and operational assets to track down the kidnappers, and ensure the safe rescue of the victims.
“The Adamawa State Police Command is making concerted efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

“We remain committed to safeguarding lives and resisting all forms of violent crime in the state,” the commissioner stated.
Authorities have urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement, by providing any useful information that could aid the rescue mission.
The police reaffirmed their determination to hold those responsible accountable, and ensure the safety of citizens.
