The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into a suspected ritual killing in Kodomun Village, in Demsa Local Government Council of the state.

The investigation was necessitated as a result of the arrest of a local herbalist in connection with the death and mutilation of an 11-year-old boy.

In a statement confirming the arrest and ongoing investigation, the command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, identified the herbalist as Murtala Musa, who was taken into custody on Sunday, April 13, 2025, after disturbing reports emerged regarding the death of young Yangapwa David.

According to the boy’s mother, Fancy Alifas, her son had been taken to Musa for treatment but tragically died while under his care.

Alifas further reported that arrangements were made to transport the boy’s body back home, during which the corpse was briefly left in the herbalist’s room.

Upon her return, she made a horrifying discovery as her son’s left eye had been removed.

The Village Head of Kodomun, was also confirmed to have joined the grieving mother in reporting the incident to police authorities in Demsa.

“Officers swiftly responded, arresting the suspect and securing the scene for further investigation,” the spokesperson said.

The state Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, assured the public that the command is committed to ensuring justice.

“We will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to get to the bottom of this case,” he stated.

The suspect, at the time of filing this report, is in police custody as the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) undertakes a discreet investigation into the case.
