The Delta State Police Command raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout, neutralizing two armed suspects and seizing an arsenal of deadly weapons. The raid is part of ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping in Delta.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright, the operation was conducted by the CP – Special Assignment Team (CP – SAT) on October 28, 2024. SP Bright stated, “Our operatives stormed a criminal hideout along Ewheru – Patani Road in Ughelli LGA, where they were ambushed by armed assailants. In the ensuing gunfight, two suspects sustained fatal injuries.”
Recovered during the raid were a loaded Beretta pistol and an AK-47 rifle, both equipped with live rounds, suggesting the suspects’ readiness for violent confrontations. SP Bright further revealed that initial investigations have linked the suspects to multiple criminal activities along Warri – Sapele Road and reported murders in Oghara and Ughelli.
After sustaining injuries in the exchange, the suspects were rushed to General Hospital, Ughelli, where they were later pronounced dead. Investigations into their criminal network are ongoing.

In a separate operation, on November 4, 2024, CP-SAT operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested five suspected cultists in Oton Community and Sapele Town. Led by ASP Julius Robinson, the team apprehended Eremoje Dudun Oritsedere, alias “General,” along with four other suspects linked to the notorious Supreme Vikings Confraternity. Seized items included an abandoned Toyota Corolla and a loaded Beretta pistol.
The suspects, reportedly responsible for several cult-related killings, were taken into custody following a confession by Philip Okunumah, alias “G3,” another key figure in cult activities. Okunumah’s admission led to the unraveling of a larger network of criminal activities across the state.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has called on parents and guardians to discourage youth involvement in cult activities and urges the public to report any suspicious individuals or movements to the police.
