The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the alleged bullying of a secondary school student at the Aliyu Mustafa Academy, Jimeta-Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
The bullying victim, identified as Jaafar Bashiri Tofa, an SSS 1 student, was reportedly beaten by a teacher (whose name has been withheld).
The student, according to the statement made available to journalists on Saturday, by the command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, is currently receiving medical treatment following the incident.
In the statement, the state Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, expressed strong disapproval of the alleged incident, and has directed the deputy commissioner of police in -charge of investigations to take over the case for a thorough inquiry.

The police commissioner, also urged the public, particularly teachers, to uphold their professional responsibilities and avoid actions that could harm students.
He assured that justice would be served, and called for calm as the investigation proceeds.
Authorities as at the time of filing this report, have yet to confirm the details of the incident, but the police have assured the public of their commitment to ensure accountability in the matter.
