The police in Cross River State have intercepted a stolen Toyota Highlander Jeep with registration number Kaduna-DKA-759-KY that was snatched at gun point in Calabar.
The vehicle was snatched from the owner, identified as Mrs.Wofi Joshua of 16A Azikima Street, Spring Road, Calabar.
A distress telephone call received by the command about the incident caused the commissioner of police to order a luck down during which Akaniyene Edem, aged 30 of Nkwot Nsit Village of Nsit Ibiom Local Government Area of Akwa-Ibom State was arrested while others escaped.
The police along Odukpani Road, flagged down the suspected stolen jeep on it’s way to Akwa-Ibom State even as the hoodlums refused to stop but were given a hot chase while they abandoned the jeep and ran into a nearby bush.

Also, in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area, the divisioner police officer with the assistance of members of the community, arrested one Godswill Okoi of Ijima Street who was suspected to be a member of Vikings Confraternity.
The following items were recovered from him and they are, one locally fabricated pistol, two BB cartridges, charms, one black bag and N70,000 cash.
The Cross River State Commissioner of Police, Rashid Afegbua, who made the disclosure through his Police Public Relation Officer, SP Irene Ugbo, has commended his men for prompt response to incidents.
He has also thanked members of the public and encouraged them to always give credible information to the police in other to make the state a more peaceful abode for both indigene and tourists.
