The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the identity of the corpse found in a hotel along Igbogene community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state as that of a commercial sex worker.
The police revealed that the corpse was that of a 22-year-old commercial sex worker domiciled at the “Ashawo Quarters” along Okarki community.
The confirmation of the identity of the corpse laid to rest the claims that the deceased was a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Musa Mohammed, confirmed to newsmen that the incident, which occurred on Saturday, triggered a forensic investigation to unravel the identity of the deceased lady and her suspected killers.

Mohammed said the deceased had lodged in the hotel with a young man now on the run and suspected of being an internet fraudster.
“The deceased is identified as Miss Francisca Otu, 22 years old and an Indigene of Omubo community in Akwa Ibom State.
“A receptionist at the Favour Home Guest House, Rachael Adaora, called the police to inform us that the body of the deceased was found naked and lifeless in one of the hotel’s rooms.
“The divisional police officer led a team of policemen from Igbogene Police Division to the scene and evacuated the corpse,” he said.
